Meet…

Connor Richmond - Tenor

When did you join BCGC? November 2019 (but properly in September 2021, after the COVID-19 lockdowns).
What's your favourite BCGC song? It’s got to be ‘The Blessing’, which is hard to beat. It was also sung by BCGC at my wedding, which was so incredibly special, and my wife also loves it.
What's your favourite BCGC moment (so far!)? It’s got to be my first live concert in Christmas 2021 and especially when Marie asked the audience to turn on the torches on their phones. Wow! Just like a starlit evening in December, the auditorium sparkled like a Winter’s night! It brought tears to my eyes. However, having BCGC perform at my wedding was equally special, particularly when they helped me perform a song I had written for my wife. I’ll never, ever forget it!
What's been your favourite BCGC gig? Oddly, I think it’s got to be the day I realised I must audition, after working with BCGC during the studio recording of BBC NI's 'Arts NI presents: Collaborations' when they joined forces with singer-songwriter Kitt Philippa and electronic producer Daithí on their co-production of 'Human'. Coincidently, I had sent a gushing email to Marie the week previous, asking if I could audition – but I didn’t know I was about to bump into her in Blackstaff Studios in Belfast! It was fate! Thankfully, and luckily, she let me audition in person...but with the other Tenors...and she said yes! This was my favourite gig because it gave me a little taster of what was to come, after the pandemic... My debut gig with BCGC was in March 2021, during lockdown, for our virtual recording of ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ – but nothing compares to singing in person with the full choir. It’s an instant high; such infectious energy; pure joy; and takes me somewhere else! They are all my favourite gigs!
What song would you love BCGC to include in their set? Nothing beats those classic contemporary church songs – 10,000 Reasons; How Deep the Father’s Love For Us; As the Deer; or Be Still. But in a bid to be a bit different – I would say, ‘Wouldn’t It Be Nice’ (The Beach Boys) or ‘Desperado’ (Eagles). Or maybe even ‘Landslide’ by Fleedwood Mac!
Why should I come and see BCGC in action? You should come to a BCGC gig because it will lift your spirits; make you feel connected as one community; energise you to feel empowered and actioned for the day ahead; and make you smile from ear to ear! What more could you ask for?
